Blog 14 What are some possible strategies for women to use in finding balance in their professional, educational, and personal lives?
I chose this question this week because its a big part of my life right now. I work a full time 36 hour a week job, substitute 3 - 4 days a week, carry 18 hours my last semester, and be mom and wife. I have no idea how women with young children go back to school. My son is a senior in high school and that keeps me very busy. The things that have helped me and my family is organization, planning, precooked dinners, and sharing the household chores. I have a daytimer that keeps me going in the right direction on all days. Make a list everyday and mark things off as they are completed helps me to know everything is done.

Monique- I can completely sympathize with you. I work a 40 hours a week, attend school and have a 18 month old son. Things can get pretty crazy but I refuse to have another child until I graduate school. One thing that I do is to prioritize. First and foremost my family, they are my life. Work is important but I can find another job, school is extremely important because by having an education I can make life a little better for my family.
As long as you can manage to have everything in order and always know what to do and when to do it I believe that that is a balance. I mean checking off lists and a daytimer are great ways of balancing tasks and getting through the day. Another thing I have to add is good luck with your semester, hope motherhood and marriage is great, and hope work is good. In my life with work, school, and family I tend to set a schedule of my weeks and tasks every weekend and write very important tasks, events, and meetings in my cell phone tasks program and calendar. That has all worked for me now and I can balance life so far.
