Health Issues that concern me!

As a survivor myself, Breast Cancer, is at the top of my list when looking at women's health issues. Many women in society feel they are to young to develop Breast Cancer. It is an "old women's disease" young women state. I never knew how many women under the age of 35 are diagnosed with Breast Cancer until my treatment started. Women have a tendency to put their own medical care off due to cost or having time available to get to the doctors appointments. Many of the women I spoke with admit they put their children and husband a priority before themselves.
Lung Cancer is another concern on my list. I always thought that Breast Cancer is the leading cause of death to women, however, it is Lung Cancer. I work with a lot of women in all ages, ethnicity, and cultures that believe these are two major concerns for women.

I'm glad you brought attention to the fact that women UNDER the age of 35 are affected with breast cancer. I am, unfortunately, completely guilty of living under the false pretense that "I'm young, I'll have plenty of time in the future to worry about it". This is a health issue that affects all women, not just the older than 35 age group!

Breast Cancer vs. Lung Cancer was quite a shocker to me also. Cancer of any kind, way, shape or form is horrible. I was looking at the statistics on Breast Cancer and even though women under 35 are at a great risk it is really scary how much your odds increase as you get older. The thing is with getting breast cancer at a younger age it is normally more aggressive than if you were older.

It seems to me that if you live long enough you will eventually develop some form of cancer. I know that this is a horrible way to think but I truly think that the odds are stacked against you the older you get. The other thing is that there are so many different types and forms of cancer. I think that I remember reading one time that there is almost 70 different types of cancer.

It is truly frightening!
